Stagecoach Daze

Park Sierra has a fine reputation for putting on a Spring Festival called Stagecoach Daze, and this year is no exception! A great group of folks-members and visitors alike-led by LaVerne Grigsby- entertained and fed us for 4 days. Here's just a little sample of what went on:
LaVerne found an old prospector working Coarsegold Creek and invited him to help distribute door prizes Thursday night. His outfit is complete with a bear bell, a Chukchansi players card (they have gold up there, too, according to prospector Jack) and a pouch of gold. Why one pant leg up and one down? Why it's to tell left from right!
The entertainment was outstanding as usual. Ed Bonham and the Travelers love to come to POS. They tell us we are one of their favorite stops. You haven't lived until you hear the sweet harmony of the troupe and Harley's rendition of "Clean Underwear".
I snagged the prospector! Now, if he gets out there and finds gold-even better!
"Make It - Take It" craft was Dutch Embroidery. Almost 40 women (where were the men?) participated in one of two craft sessions, and all enjoyed it!
We had two patterns, a pair of swans and a wreath. Josie is really concentrating.
Ken Kimpton did his always sterling job as auctionere. He can move mountains of treasures donated by Members in just a few hours...wow! You should see him do his thing! And, best of all Sierra Oaks (our social arm of the park) will be getting the profit-over $3,000!!!!!
I didn't gget any pictures of the crowds around meal time-I was too busy eating. Overall, it was fun, exhausting and well worth the time and effort. Our guests were very impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness of the Park. Me, too.

Easter part II

Boo, Grammy's guard dog, kept watch over the eggs. Miss C put them in the little drawer between the recliners....

Miss C couldn't believe the Easter Bunny would know she wanted a Barbie Doll. Her moms explained that the Easter Bunny and Santa had a conversation and Santa shared his list so E. Bunny could put the special gift in Miss C's basket. Talk about happy faces.....
This is the result of Miss E's first Easter chocolate...yum!

Happy Easter!

What a treat for me! Kris, Sandi and the girls came Saturday for Easter weekend. They stayed in the motor home at a nearby site and we spent the afternoon dying eggs.
Miss C really got into it-seriously!
Then she added the finishing touches-sparkles
Miss E was more interested in eating pretzels....
The Easter bunny left a bunch of plastic eggs hidden in the flowers on the deck. Miss C had them all scoped out but left them until Mommie and Miss E could join in.

Camera Caper

Saturday was a perfect weather day-so we played hooky and went to Yosemite for our first picnic. We explored Wawona and some of the side roads I didn't know even existed! Jack was very proud of the fact that he found a camera on the white elephant table at the clubhouse so on the way to Yosemite we stopped in Oakhurst so he could buy film and photo batteries (they were very expensive!).
The infamous tree....I was standing right there when Jack asked me to take his camera-I thought I had it in my hand but it slipped and fell on my shoe then tumbled right over the cliff! Jack found a resident nearby who knew of a way to get down to the water and offered to go down and see if he could find the camera-and he did! It was in the water but Jack is hopeful it will still work. Now, here's the kicker....I told a friend about this incident -she said it was her camera! She had put it on the white elephant table just a few days ago! Strange happenings...

It was so nice to see wildlife meandering through the trees.
This is one of many views of the creeks that feed into the South fork of the Merced River.

There's a walking bridge at the end of the road-a very special place!

Happy St. Pat's Day!

Just getting around to putting my pictures on the computer....
The traditional fixin's of corned beef, cabbage and boiled potatoes was enjoyed by all-thanks to LaVerne Grigsby and her talented team. I I just got back from Yuma Tuesday so it was especially nice that Jack made the reservations for us.
Ron Jones didn't have any green on so I made him wear my glasses....
Jane Darrow really, really likes Jack's shirt....
And here's my own personal leprechaun....all grown up! Or not.....
We had lots of fun parading around the clubhouse-so much fun that we went to the casino! It's fun to be silly and light hearted and young at heart...

Oatman

Today was special-we hit three states in one day! Best of all, we went to Oatman. Those of you who know about our adventures last year might remember the day we got lost and found ourselves in Oatman, AZ, driving the motor home and towing the Jeep....This was a much better trip....
This flower field is part of a golf course-so beautiful! It reminded me of our poppy fields that I know are blossoming all over CA....
The burros have the right of way and take full advantage if it! Cecile and I are petting a baby...There's a sticker on his forehead to warn sightseers not to feed them, because they don't have enough back teeth to chew.
You can't stop a burro once he decides to move...
Another part of the entertainment is the gunfight. After, they pass the hat and all proceeds go the the Shriners Hospital. Fun entertainment!
And so, the burros bid us goodbye. We start home tomorrow....hope the weather is better than when we left!
