Well, after a quick forgettable trip to Quartsite, I was on my way to FL. Flying is not my favorite way to travel but sometimes necessary. I was met by my two sisters-Isa and her husband Bob have a new home in Fl, and Ellen flew from MI. From then on it was non-stop. We had a whirlwind tour of north central FL on Thurs, hit the pool on Fri. got up early Sat. to go to Ferandino Beach, Fl on Amelia Island. It's situated in the far northeast part of Fl. We visited a cousin I hadn't seen in 60 yrs. She gave us a lot of info about our father's side of the family and a little bit about our ancestry. We left Sun. afternoon. We took a bus on Mon. to go to Cocoa Beach to a boat casino. We all lost $$$$ but it was fun, anyway. They had a great duo who entertained us all the way back into port.
We met with our cousin Tom and his wife Sharon for a long overdue visit in Claremont. We had the whole place laughing-and then got the giggles on the way home-what plays in Fl stays in Fl....
Yesterday I was in five states-not including the ones I flew over...does that make me a jet setter?

London Bridge is falling down-Not!

Gary and Cecile enjoy a moment on the
Bridge

We took the Ferry over to Lake Havasu City to see the London Bridge and buy souvenirs.
It was a beautiful day-perfect for a little boat ride-and the price was just right-free!

And Away We Go!

To my first Bluegrass Festival! The rig is packed for every contingency (even the wine glasses were in their socks-thanks, Ann, for the tip). I caravanned with the Thompson's and after two fairly easy days of driving we arrived in Havasu Landing Resort and Casino. It's on the CA side of Lake Havasu, which is really the Colorado river. We dry camping and have the most beautiful view of the Lake and Havasu City. There's a pyrotechnic convention on the other side so we've been treated with fireworks every night. Saturday night rivaled a Disney spectactular
But the real reason we're here is the music..ohh, sweet pure sounds. I didn't know there were so many styles of bluegrass-I liked them all! Friday was very windy (30 mph) so everyone bundled up and the bands kept thanking the audience for sticking it out through the winds. Once the music started you forgot about anything else, and in spite of the wind it was a very sunny day. Next day was so perfect-beautiful sunshine, no wind to speak of, and great performers. Some had played before so I knew I was in for a treat. By far the Headliners, Dry Branch Fire Squad, were outstanding. Ron Thomanson-leader of the group-had us laughing so hard as he regaled us with some of his anecdotal stories.
Sunday was the end of the Festival but not the end of fun for us. We took the ferry to Lake Havasu City and stood on the London Bridge! (More on that with pictures later).
Did I mention Casino???? The Chemehuevi Indian Tribe has a very nice enterprise-camping, casino, festivals, etc. In spite of the cold Gary gave Cecile, we braved the crowd andplayed a little every night. She's been very brave throughout the trip and willing to go along with just about anything.
We're leaving tomorrow (boo) for Quartzsite and then I'll leave my rig & car in the  very capable hands of the Thompson's while I fly away to visit my sisters in Leesburg, FL. You'll hear all about that trip on my next blog....Happy Travels!

Workday at Grammys

And what a little helper she is! C loves washing dishes.....
Mommy got up early and started cleaning up a lot of the branches that needed trimming. There was so much we had to go over the creek twice!
After all that work mommy was hungry so we had a breakfast of waffles and yogurt. Yum!

Everybody as a Sweetheart

And here's mine...C is practicing her technique as a star-but she's really just a ham! Her mommy came to visit me and do some chores and I have the privilege of babysitting! We've already visited Mittens (a friends' cat) and Missy (the neighbors' bassett) and drove around the park looking for quail (didn't find any). I hope you have a Sweetheart in your life.
