A Day Away

Mendocino is beautiful, awesome, and so mellow. Sometimes you just have to get away even from the ocean paradise. That's why Jackie, Ruth and I got up at 6:30 am (yes, I really did!) and headed for Santa Rosa! We had a semi-plan and shopped 'till we dropped. That plan included JoAnn's, Avenue,
A knitter's store, a bookstore, Sally's hair and other products, Target and Costco

And of course Lunch! We each had some type of garlic on our dishes (self defense) so we reeked for the rest of the day. Boy, did it get hot!
We returned home (cool coast) with great stuff we really, really needed (not). Then we topped off the day with dinner at the Little River Inn (taco Tuesday). Now, don't you wish you were here?

Grammy says goodbye

At least for now-These pictures were taken 6-16, when E was a mere 5 days old. It was time for me to return to Mendocino and the family of four to start bonding on their own.
This is a picture of C taken 11-03-05. I can't help but compare the same shock of hair and big bubble....no doubt they're sisters!
This pretty much ends the birthing saga....next report will be baby's progress

More baby...

They're just so darn cute! C is rocking her baby sister for the first time...
Kennedy's first comment-she's so small!
Mama is helping C hold her for-she likes it!

Welcome Baby E

What a surprise! Plans were for Sandi to go to the hospital June 15th to deliver but Baby E had her own agenda. At their regular appointment the Dr. found something changing and sent Sandi and Kris to the hospital immediately. (This was Thursday, June 11). Baby E was delivered @ approx. 5:14pm, weighing 6 lbs. 15 oz., length 17", and all is well! I'm very happy for them and very proud of my family!
I have a picture just like this with C-Baby E is almost 24 hours old.
Homecoming-2 days later!
C is very gentle, very protective and (so far) thinks it's cool to have a baby sister.
Such  perfection!

Elk

Not the four-footed animal, the town! Elk is about 15 miles south of Mendocino on the coast of course. It's a quaint, flower filled little piece of Paradise. Touring new visitors to the area is always fun and sometimes there's a bonus for me..I haven't been to Elk in a zillion years and forgot how beautiful it is.
This unusual plant is native to Mexico-of course I've forgotten the name already!
Jack is posing on a private porch of the B&B we found in Elk. It's going on my list 'cause the view is so spectacular and the rooms offer views of the garden and ocean,  and have hot tubs and fireplaces-now doesn't that sound enticing?
See the dragon looking out to sea? He's protecting the portal I guess
This is what the dragon is protecting...
