Yuma and other places..

Oatman is a special place...not far from Laughlin, NV. I've been here before and as long as I'm in the area I just have to go back....

This is the town.....

Jack is feeding the burro....it's a tradition...and the burros are always hungry!

Before we left Yuma Jack took me to the proving grounds....there's an active base nearby and lots of BLM property that's used for camping. You just don't think you'll see some beautiful lakes in the "desert".

These are some of the military items that are tested for durability at the proving grounds.

And, while driving through the BLM we came across some wild burros...probably cousins of the Oatman group of burros. It was a quick visit-just ten days-but a great break from winter blahs...

The Slab @ Nyland, CA

We needed a break from Park Sierra-I was beginning to have a bad case of cabin fever- And when Jack said he wanted to go to Algodones for some dental work I said "let's go!" and we did....We red an article in the Escapees magazine some time ago and neither of us had been to "The Slab".....

Well, among other things it has beautiful sunsets....The Slab is an abandend  military base-lots of cement slabs all over the place and decent roads so it's not as difficult to traipse through with a rig....much easier than Quartzside.
Here's our little spot...lots of room everywhere-

And this is the gathering spot for LOWs -Loners on Wheels-.. They have a very interesting setup, obviously lots of LOWs stay there for the winter.

And here's a surprise! We came upon the crash site of secret saucer people......Now onward to Algodones and Yuma!
