Park Sierra has a fine reputation for putting on a Spring Festival called Stagecoach Daze, and this year is no exception! A great group of folks-members and visitors alike-led by LaVerne Grigsby- entertained and fed us for 4 days. Here's just a little sample of what went on:
LaVerne found an old prospector working Coarsegold Creek and invited him to help distribute door prizes Thursday night. His outfit is complete with a bear bell, a Chukchansi players card (they have gold up there, too, according to prospector Jack) and a pouch of gold. Why one pant leg up and one down? Why it's to tell left from right!
The entertainment was outstanding as usual. Ed Bonham and the Travelers love to come to POS. They tell us we are one of their favorite stops. You haven't lived until you hear the sweet harmony of the troupe and Harley's rendition of "Clean Underwear".
I snagged the prospector! Now, if he gets out there and finds gold-even better!
"Make It - Take It" craft was Dutch Embroidery. Almost 40 women (where were the men?) participated in one of two craft sessions, and all enjoyed it!
We had two patterns, a pair of swans and a wreath. Josie is really concentrating.
Ken Kimpton did his always sterling job as auctionere. He can move mountains of treasures donated by Members in just a few hours...wow! You should see him do his thing! And, best of all Sierra Oaks (our social arm of the park) will be getting the profit-over $3,000!!!!!
I didn't gget any pictures of the crowds around meal time-I was too busy eating. Overall, it was fun, exhausting and well worth the time and effort. Our guests were very impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness of the Park. Me, too.
